The Research Division at the Minneapolis Fed strives to increase the pipeline of individuals into the economics profession. To support these efforts, the Research Division is launching a new initiative in collaboration with the University of Minnesota to broaden opportunities for undergraduate students to access training and advanced research in economics. This initiative encompasses a new series of intermediate-level courses at the U of M, Economics at Work, as well as a practical Research Training Program at the Minneapolis Fed.
The first course of the new series, Economics at Work: The Wealth of African Nations, will be offered at the U of M in spring 2025 and will focus on the multifaceted nature of African economies. The class will be taught by U of M faculty and Fed economists.
The first Research Training Program will take place at the Minneapolis Fed from May 19 through May 30, 2025, and combine instruction and collaborative research under the guidance of economists in the Research Division. The program seeks to foster meaningful continuing mentorship relationships between students and economists.
