Mary Rutherford is the president and CEO of the Montana Community Foundation (MCF), an organization that has worked to create permanent philanthropy and build stronger communities in the State of Montana since its founding in 1988. The foundation works with donors, charitable organizations, cities, and towns to play a critical role in both philanthropic and community development. Since its founding, the foundation has reinvested more than $61 million in Montana communities.

Rutherford previously served as the director of Corporate and Foundation Relations at Boise State University, president of the University of Alaska Foundation, and chief development officer for the University of Alaska System. Her affiliations include membership with the Montana Nonprofit Association Public Policy Council and the Philanthropy Northwest board of directors. She has a B.S. in business management from Lewis-Clark State College, an M.S. in philanthropic studies from Indiana University, and is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE).
