Jay Debertin is president and CEO of CHS, the nation’s leading farmer-owned cooperative and a global agribusiness diversified in agronomy, energy, global grains, and processing. Debertin was named CEO in 2017 following more than 30 years in leadership roles at CHS, including executive vice president and chief operating officer for the energy and processing and food ingredients businesses. Debertin joined CHS in 1984 in its petroleum division, holding a variety of leadership positions, including overseeing energy marketing, crude oil supply, refining, pipelines and terminals, trading and risk management, and transportation.

In addition to his role at CHS, Debertin serves as chairman of the board for Ventura Foods, a joint venture of which CHS is part owner. He also sits on the boards of the National Council of Farmer Cooperatives and Securian Financial.

Debertin earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, and an MBA from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
