South Dakota State Roundup

Welcome home, please

The state of South Dakota is hitting the cyber recruiting trail to bring native residents back home and is reportedly having some success. That's according to DakotaRoots.com, a Web-based recruiting tool launched by Gov. Mike Rounds in October of last year.

The site is designed to help find jobs for those interested in returning to the state and is a partnership between the governor's office and the departments of labor and tourism. Through August, almost 1,200 individuals had expressed interest, at which point they are assigned a representative to match their job skills with available opportunities. To date, the Web site reports to have assisted 175 participants (and, in many cases, families) in moving back to South Dakota.
