Jesse Bethke Gomez, president of Twin Cities-based Comunidades Latinos Unidas En Servicio (CLUES), was recently awarded the Reconocimiento Ohtli through the Mexican consulate in St. Paul, Minn. The award is the highest honor the government of Mexico bestows on people of Mexican heritage in the U.S.
CLUES is a Twin Cities-based nonprofit organization that provides educational, social and health services to enhance the quality of life of Latinos in Minnesota. Gomez was recognized for his work with the organization, which has "made life's path easier" for Mexicans in the U.S. "Ohtli" means "path" in Nahuatl, an indigenous language of Mexico.
