More farmers are using computers and the Internet

More farmers are using computers for their business and accessing information on the Internet. In 1999, 30 percent of district farmers used computers for business, higher than the U.S. average of 24 percent. In 1997, 25 percent of district farmers used computers.

District farmers with access to the Internet almost tripled from 1997 to 1999—32 percent in 1999, up from 12 percent in 1997, and slightly higher than the U.S. average of 29 percent.

Among district states Montana was first in both computer usage and Internet access in 1997 and 1999.
