U.S. farm and ranch operators paid field and livestock workers an average wage of $7.58 per hour in April, up 4.3 percent from a year ago. Ninth District wages for field and livestock workers were above the national average except in Montana; however, Ninth District wages grew more slowly than average. Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota and South Dakota all saw a 3.2 percent wage increase, while Montana wages grew 2.8 percent to $6.72 per hour. Wage increases for field and livestock workers in the district rose at about the same rate as wages for district manufacturing workers, which increased 3.1 percent in April from a year ago.
