(PDF)
Ellen is currently a Monetary Advisor at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis and an Adjunct Professor of Economics at the University of Minnesota. She is also an Editor at the Review of Economic Dynamics, a member of the American Economic Association Executive Committee, a Research Economist at NBER, Treasurer of the Society of Economic Dynamics, and one of the local organizers for the Econometric Society summer meetings in 2006. She was program chair for the 2001 SED meeting in Stockholm, Sweden, co-chair of the 2002 CV Starr/RED Meeting, co-chair of the 2003 Minnesota Workshop in Macroeconomic Theory, and a member of the program committee for the 2005 Econometric Society World Congress.
Ellen’s research is concerned with the aggregate effects of monetary and fiscal policy, in particular, the effects on GDP, investment, the allocation of hours, and the stock market. Her recent work with colleague Ed Prescott reconsiders some puzzles in light of the fact that some investments are unmeasured. Her recent work with colleagues V.V. Chari and Patrick Kehoe is concerned with methods to account for business cycles.
Ellen received her BS in Economics and Mathematics from Boston College, and her Ph.D. in Economics from Stanford University. Prior to coming to Minnesota, she taught at Duke University.
