Questions About the IMF
The current debate about the proper role of the IMF has focused, in
large part, on whether the IMF should serve as the lender of last
resort, that is, on whether the IMF should provide an international
safety net based on the domestic model. The authors of this year's
essay argue that the issue is not so much what the IMF should do,
but what needs to be done and who can best do the job.
